Heraldon “Moose” Wills, 87, went home to be with the Lord on May 19, 2017 after a battle with illness.
Moose was born March 20, 1930 on White Sulphur, in Bath County, to the late Forrest “Duke” Wills and Eva Reffitt Wills.
He married his wife of 67 years, Lena Crouch Wills on Christmas Eve 1949.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, is 1 son, William “Billy” Wills and his wife Judy, 1 daughter, Rachelle Wills Thompson and her husband Tim, 1 sister, Millie Kier and her husband Vernon, 1 brother, Orville Wills and his wife Gerri, 4 grandchildren, Amy Wills of Heaters, WV, Chynah Thompson of Salt Lick and Michael and Blake Baber of Salt Lick. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, friends, family and church family including a loyal cousin, Dusty Reffitt and his wife Linda of Salt Lick.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 infant sons, Heraldon Dean and Nathan Shawn Wills, a sister, Lena Faye Wills and a brother, Edward Wills.
Moose built houses, did wood crafts, farmed and retired from Reeves and White Lumber Company. He was a devoted family man who retired in 2003 to babysit his best friend, Chynah. He sang and studied the Bible at the Salt Lick First Church Of God and his greatest desire was to leave a path for others to follow through life to Heaven.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday May 22, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Salt Lick First Church Of God with Bro. Vernon Lambert and Bro. Sherman Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in Upper Salt Lick Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday May 21 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the church. Powell Funeral Home will be caring for the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Bashford, Jeff Conn, Randy Conn, June Crouch, Dusty Reffitt and Timmy Charles. Honorary pallbearers will be Willis Crouch and Radar Riley.
