Mr. Leander McCarty, 83, of Middletown, OH, passed away Wednesday January 27, 2016 at Atrium Medical Center in Middletown.

          Born April 27, 1932 at Salt Lick, KY, he was the son of the late Oscar and Thelma Reynolds McCarty and was a retired mechanic and a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War era.

          Survivors include 1 daughter, Sherry Miller of Morehead, KY, 4 sons, Phillip McCarty of Middletown, OH, Terry McClain of Middletown, OH, Jerry McClain of Columbus, OH and Richard Fox of Middletown, OH, 3 sisters, Delphia Walton, Zenda Beerwort and Cathy McCarty, 4 brothers, Kenny McCarty, Bo McCarty, Pete McCarty and Benny McCarty, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

          Funeral services will be conducted Thursday February 4, 2016, 2:00 PM at Powell Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Bath County Memorial Gardens with graveside military honors being performed by Morehead American Legion Post #126.

Visitation will be Thursday February 4, 2016 from 11:00 AM until service time.
