Mr. Charles Stanford “Butch” West, 71, of 339 Hollow Creek Dr., Mount Sterling, KY, passed away Saturday morning, October 5, 2019 at his home after an extended illness.
Born at Taylorsville, WV on September 12, 1948 the son of the late Stuart and Ruby White West.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 son, Eric West, 1 grandson, Andrew Tripp West, a brother, R.A. West and a nephew, Michael Paul West.
Mr. West was an attorney and a graduate of Morehead State University and the University Of Kentucky College Of Law and attended Southern West Virginia Community College. He was a United States Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam war era, a minister with the Fundamental Christian Church, former mayor of Williamson, WV, former president of the Mingo County Board Of Education, a youth sports coach and a member of the Kentucky and West Virginia Bar Associations.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Jones West, 5 children, Adam West and wife Bethany of Hurricane, WV, Katie Poore and husband Todd of Jacksonville, FL, Phillip West of Mt. Sterling, KY, Lauren Testerman and husband Jared of Crittenden, KY and Andrew Joseph West and wife Kelli of Sidney, KY, 1 sister, Christine West-Sullivan of Frankfort, KY and several grandchildren and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening October 8, 2019 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Lakeview Community Church.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday October 9, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Lakeview Community Church, Salt Lick, KY, with Bro. Raven Fields, Jr. and Rev. Eddie Dennison officiating and David Sullivan giving the eulogy. Interment will follow in Jones Cemetery, Salt Lick, KY with full military honors given by Morehead American Legion Post #126
Serving as pallbearers will be the honor guard of Morehead American Legion Post #126. Honorary pallbearers will be Jared Testerman, Todd Poore, Carter Sheldon, Brady Sheldon, Aiden West, Conner West, Liam West and Gunnar West.
