James Ballard Howard, 83, of 3531 South Highway 211, Salt Lick, KY passed away Friday evening December 13, 2019 at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, KY.
Mr. Howard was born April 28, 1936 at Crockett, Kentucky, a son of the late Shafter and Anna Ethel Ferguson Howard. He was a retired employee of Larry Fannin Chevrolet and was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Merley McNabb Howard, 1 son, James V. Howard and his wife Nellie, 1 daughter, Twila Hardin and her husband Tommy, 6 grandchildren, Chrissy Hardin and her husband Allen, Carrie Howard, Aaron Howard, Steven Hardin and his wife Genie, Will Hardin and his wife Tammy and Whitney Goldie and her husband Austin, several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Russell Carter and his wife Brenda.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Betty Conley and Edna Wilson, 2 brothers, Claude Howard and Russell Howard and a grandson, Raymond “R.B.” Hardin.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday December 17, 2019 at 2:30 PM at Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Gross officiating. Burial will follow in White Sulphur Cemetery with graveside military honors being given by Morehead American Legion Post #126. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 2:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
