Roy Byrd, 80, entrepreneur and car enthusiast took his final drive to be with the Lord on April 1, 2019.
This animated, loving, caring and strong man has left a permanent mark etched on the hearts of many and will be supremely missed by his wife and best friend of 60 years, Phyllis Mullins Byrd and his children, Rhonda Back (Mark), Tammy Maness (Tim) and Roy Dale Byrd (Connie).
Family was a driving force of Roy’s life. He was proud and honored to be the patriarch, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family.
Roy was the owner of Byrd’s Chrysler Inc. and dedicated many years of his life to helping others and in service to his faith and attendance at Dayspring Assembly Of God.
In addition to his wife and children, Roy is survived by 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Pauleen Deaton, Maudie Crouch (Dick) and Jeanne Brennan. Beloved in laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Foy and Grace Byrd and siblings Mildred Amsden, Russell Byrd and Stanley Byrd.
Planes, boats, cars, tractors, you could basically say Roy loved anything with a motor. He had a contagious adventurous spirit and loved to travel with family and friends. He enjoyed life to the fullest and loved to see others doing the same. He enjoyed bluegrass music, car shows and car racing. We are sure he is racing the streets of heaven with a joyous smile.
Those who wish to gather in memory of Roy are welcome to visit with the family from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Saturday April 6, 2019 with a celebration of life ceremony to follow at 1:00 PM at Dayspring Assembly of God, 1517 Main Street, Frenchburg, Kentucky 40322.
