Allen Griffey, 88, of 657 McCullough Hollow Road, Salt Lick, KY passed away Monday May 12, 2014 at his residence.
Born August 15, 1925 at Middletown, Ohio the son of the late James and Carrie Ethel Borders Griffey. He was the widower of the late Wanda Leach Griffey and was a World War II Army veteran and retired truck driver.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Griffey of Arizona, a step-son, David Combs, Jr. of Salt Lick, a sister, Belva Reid of Alabama and 2 granddaughters, Holly and Shawna of Tennessee, and a grandson Scott Leonard, Jr. of Ohio, 2 sisters in law, Nellie Corey and Serena Smith and 2 brothers in law, Ralph Leach and Bobby Leach.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Jones and a brother, Lenzy Griffey.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday May 15, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Dickerson Cemetery at Salt Lick, KY. There will be no visitation.
Grave side Military Honors will be performed by Morehead American Legion Post 126. Services are under the direction of Powell Funeral Home of Salt Lick, KY.
