Mrs. Beatrice Arnett Elam, 93, of 923 Black Sulphur Road, Salt Lick, KY, passed away Wednesday May 28, 2014 at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, KY.
Born October 25, 1920 at Wolf County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Lee and America Lykins Arnett and was the widow of the late William Charles Elam.
Mrs. Elam was a retired employee of Jockey International and was a graduate of Berea College. During her younger years she was a teacher, teaching in a one room schoolhouse where she would have to take her small children and take care of them while she taught class. She had a love for animals, gardening and cooking, especially cooking Sunday dinners for her loving family.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Joyce Enoch and husband David of Mt. Sterling, KY, Carol Barker and husband James of Winchester, KY and Wilma Jones and husband Ewell of Salt Lick, KY, 1 son, Frank Elam and wife Kay of Salt Lick, KY, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters in law, Faye Smith and Mary Arnett and 1 brother in law, Harley Elam all of Ohio. Also surviving is a special niece and caregiver Susan Wells and many other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Elam, 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday May 31, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Midland First Church Of God with Bro. Bush Stevenson officiating. Burial will follow at Upper Salt Lick Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service Saturday at the church.
