Charles Ray McKenzie, 84, of 163 East Main Street, Owingsville, KY, passed away Monday November 17, 2014.
Born December 29, 1929 at Salt Lick, KY, he was the son of the late Willard B. and Flora Myers McKenzie.
A United States Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, he was a retired civil engineer, former owner of Lighthouse Candles, a Kentucky Colonel and community leader.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Jo McKenzie, 1 daughter, Diana Kay McKenzie of Salt Lick, 2 sons, David Lee McKenzie and Charles Bronson McKenzie both of Salt Lick, 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Terry Ray McKenzie, 1 sister, Viva Webb and 4 brothers, William "Bill" McKenzie, Hansford "Haney" McKenzie, Ralph McKenzie and Lloyd "Shorty" Alexander.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday November 20, 2014 at 5:00 PM at Lakeview Community Church with Rev. Lowell Rice and Rev. James Allen officiating and special music provided by Robin Tolle. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM Thursday at the church.
Military honors will be conducted following the service, at the church, by the Morehead American Legion Post #126.
Powell Funeral Home will be caring for the arrangements.
