Mrs. Christine Hargis Maze, 95, of 2615 East Highway 60, Owingsville, KY, passed away Sunday November 28, 2010 at her residence.
Mrs. Maze was born March 12, 1915 at Wrigley, KY in Morgan County, the daughter of the late Harve and Julie Mae Sargent Hargis. She was the widow of the late Arthur Maze who preceded her in death in 1991 and was a retired school teacher, having began her teaching career in a one room school in Polksville at what is now the Polksville Church Of God and concluding her teaching at the Salt Lick Elementary School with the Bath County School system. She was a member of the Polksville Church Of God.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Marilyn K. Swartz and her husband Carroll of Louisville, KY and Melinda Staton and her husband Bobby of Owingsville, KY, 2 sons, Jerry Maze and his wife Brenda of Owingsville and Roger Maze of Owingsville, a daughter in law, Donna Gail Maze of Owingsville, a sister in law, Flossie Maze of Owingsville, 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and special care givers, Marietta Wells, Audrey Reed, Martha Martin, Crystal Esteepe, Pat Blankenship and many others who assisted with her care during her illness.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and husband, is a son, Thomas C. Maze in 2006, a grandson, Thomas A. Maze in 2009, 1 sister, Lelia Shrout and 2 brothers, Elmer Hargis and Linville Hargis.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday December 2, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Polksville Church Of God with Rev. Harold M. Goodpaster and Rev. Anthony Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Polksville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM Wednesday December 1, 2010 at the Polksville Church Of God. Services are under the direction of Powell Funeral Home of Salt Lick. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested, in Mrs. Maze's memory, to the Polksville Church Of God.
