Edward Owen Powell, 91, of Salt Lick, KY, passed away Thursday morning July 9, 2020 at his residence.
Born at Salt Lick, KY on May 10, 1929 a son of the late Minor C. and Hermia Blevins Powell. He was retired owner and operator of Powell Funeral Home, a Korean War Army veteran serving as a medic and receiving 2 bronze stars, a member of the V.F.W., D.A.V., American Legion, and a 62 year member of Salt Lick Lodge #682, F. & A.M.
Ed was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed gardening and traveling, especially traveling to events and functions involving his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Illene Adams Powell, 1 son, Edward Lynn Powell and his wife Nikki of Morehead, KY, 2 grandchildren, Ashlynn Powell and Mason Powell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers William “Bill” Powell, R.B. “Bruce” Powell, Minor C. Powell, Jr., Robert J. “Bob” Powell, Sr. and a sister, Shirley Lucille.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday July 11, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Powell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Dickerson Cemetery with military honors performed by Morehead American Legion Post #126. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Covid-19 restrictions of social distancing and wearing of face masks will be in place and enforced for the safety of everyone.
