Harold W. Johnson, 84, of 80 Fraley Road, Salt Lick, KY passed away Thursday February 27, 2014 at his residence.
Born March 17, 1929 at Salt Lick, KY, he was the son of the late Christopher Johnson, Sr. and the late Lena Pearl Wills Johnson. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War and was the owner and operator of the New Spot Roller Rink in Salt Lick, which opened in 1962.
Survivors include his wife, Inalee Shepherd Johnson, who he married on November 18, 1952, 1 daughter, Rita Gail McKenzie and her husband Bobby, 2 grandsons, Rob McKenzie and Jason McKenzie and his wife Sabrina, 4 great-grandchildren, Brittany Buckler, Ashley Buckler, Nathan McKenzie and Lorelai McKenzie, 1 sister, Phyllis Clements and 1 brother, Pasquin "Pack" Johnson and his wife Faye.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Jean Johnson and Margaret Priest and 3 brothers, Jim Johnson, Doug Johnson and Chris Johnson, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday March 3, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Powell Funeral Home in Salt Lick with Joe McKenzie officiating and special music provided by Steve Becraft. Burial will follow in Dickerson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Sunday March 2 at the funeral home. Masonic Rites will be conducted Sunday evening at 7:00 PM at the funeral home by Salt Lick Lodge #682 F&AM. Grave side military honors will be performed by the Morehead American Legion Post #126.
