Mrs. Inalee Shepherd Johnson, 88, of 80 Fraley Road, Salt Lick, KY, widow of the late Harold W. Johnson, passed away Sunday evening, September 24, 2023 at her residence.
Born April 8, 1935 at Neosho, Missouri, she was a daughter of the late Riley Edward and Mary Catherine Klopfenstine Shepherd. She was of the Church Of God and United Pentecostal faith.
She, along with her late husband Harold W. Johnson owned and operated the New Spot Roller Rink for many years, where they touched the lives of many of the local young people and their lives were touched in return. They were instrumental in Bath County getting their first Jaws Of Life rescue equipment by holding benefit fund raising skates at the roller rink.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Madelyn Scott, Riley Shepherd, Jr., Lucy Jean White, Maxine Bayliff, Joy Lee Brownell and Nadine Bates.
Survivors include her daughter: Rita McKenzie and husband Bobby, 2 grandsons: Robbie McKenzie (Tiffany) and Jason McKenzie and his wife Sabrina, 5 great-grandchildren: Brittany Gay and husband Chris, Ashley Sunley and husband Matt, Nathan McKenzie, Dawson Rogers and Lorelai McKenzie, 1 great great-grandchild: Colton Sunley and a great great grandson due to arrive in February 2024: baby Bode Lee Sunley. Also surviving are her brother and sister in law: Pack and Faye Johnson, many nieces and nephews, her extended family members in Missouri, Michigan, Georgia and Texas and her countless number of “skating rink kids”.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday September 29, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Powell Funeral Home, Salt Lick, KY.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home.
Inalee will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in the McKenzie Family Cemetery on Old State Road at Olympia Springs, KY.
