James D. "Jimmy" Evans, 90, of 11056 East Highway 60, Salt Lick, passed away Thursday August 26, 2010 at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
Born November 15, 1919 in Bath County, he was the son of the late Thomas Henry and Minnie Harry Evans and was the widower of the late Ella Mae Arnett Evans. He was retired Bath County Clerk, former Bath County Deputy Sheriff, former Walmart employee and was a member of the Lakeview Community Church, Salt Lick Lodge #682 F&AM, Lions Club and Eastern Star.
Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Poole of Clearwater, Florida, a son, Brent Evans of Salt Lick and 4 grandchildren, Casey Smith, Kimberly Colbert, Cierra Evans and Kachine Evans. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday August 29, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Powell Funeral Home with Rev. James Allen and Rev. Guy McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 – 9 PM Saturday at the funeral home with Masonic rites conducted at 7:00 PM by the Salt Lick Lodge #682 F.&A.M.
