Madelyn (Carter) Darrell

          Madelyn Carter Darrell, 98, of Salt Lick, passed away Friday August 23, 2024 at Saint Joseph Hospital, Lexington, KY.

          Born December 23, 1925 in Elliot County, KY, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Margaret Flannery Carter.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Darrell in 2010, a daughter, Karen Conn in 2020 and several brothers and sisters.

          Madelyn was an amazing cook and always welcomed people to her home. She loved to talk and entertain. She was loved and will be missed, but also remembered by many.

          Survivors include her son, Donnie Darrell and his wife Jean of Jamestown, OH, 3 grandchildren: Becky (Dave) Irvin, Jason (Gretchen) Darrell and Adam (Nancy) Conn, 6 great-grandchildren: Emily (Aaron) Teters, Will (Logan) Irvin, Anna Darrell, Jason Darrell, Jr., Juliette Darrell and David Conn, Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, a very special son in law: Danny True and special friend: Gem.

          Funeral services will be conducted Monday August 26, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Powell Funeral Home, Salt Lick, KY with Bro. Steve Meadows officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM Monday until service time, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery.
