Marcia Lynne Downs Purvis, 59, of Flemingsburg and formerly of Bath County, passed away Monday March 23, 2009 at her residence after a long and couragous battle with cancer.
Marcia was the daughter of the late Bob and Evelyn Craig Downs and was a former employee of the Salt Lick Deposit Bank and B B & T Bank of Winchester. She was also a member of the Mudlick Church of God.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Dena Lynne Thomas and her husband Ronnie of Salt Lick and Jessica Clarke Thomas Doyle and her husband Matt of Flemingsburg, 2 granddaughters, Taylor Elizabeth Thomas of Salt Lick and Addyson Lynne Doyle of Flemingsburg, paternal grandmother, Flora Downs of Owingsville, 2 brothers, Mike Downs and his wife Joyce of Olympia and Robin Downs of Beattyville, KY, 3 neices and 1 nephew. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Patrick Downs and a sister Donna Patricia Downs.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday March 26, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Mudlick Church Of God with Bro. Mark Caldwell and Bro. Dave Crouch officiating. Interment will follow in Downs Cemetery at Olympia. Visitation will be from 5 - 9 PM Wednesday March 25 at Mudlick Church Of God. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory are suggested to Mudlick Church Of God or The Cancer Care Club Of Flemingsburg. Services are under the direction of Powell Funeral Home of Salt Lick.
