Martin Sorrell

          Elzie Martin Sorrell, Jr., 81, went to join our Heavenly Father Friday morning December 1, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.

          Martin was born March 17, 1942 in Bath County, KY to the late Elzie Martin Sorrell, Sr and the late Annliza Goodpaster Flood.

          He married the love of his life Imagene W. Sorrell on December 17, 1960.

          As a young man, Martin hauled coal for Earl and Sally Shrout’s General Store in Salt Lick, KY. As he got older, he began working for  A. O. Smith Corporation in Mount Sterling, KY from which he retired after 40 years of dedicated service.

          Martin loved God and his family with all his heart. He was a member of Hedrick’s Community Church in Salt Lick, KY since he was a child.

          He enjoyed trading trucks, riding go-carts, motorcycles, 4 wheelers and even his scooter as he got older.

          Martin carried many titles from husband, daddy, papaw, poppy and friend. He was a kind, loving and generous man to those who knew him.

          He will be greatly missed.

          Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Imagene W. Sorrell, his children, Peggy Bradshaw and her husband Burt of Owingsville, KY, Kenny Sorrell and his wife Georgetta of Salt Lick, KY, Beth Griggs of Owingsville, KY and Jonathan Sorrell and his wife Angie of Salt Lick, KY, 1 brother, Charles Manuel “Cabbage” Goodpaster of Indiana, 3 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 1 brother.

          Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday December 3, 2023 at Powell Funeral Home, Salt Lick, KY with Bro. Randall Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Hedrick’s Cemetery.

          Visitation will be Sunday December 3, 2023 from 11:00 AM until service time at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

          Serving as pallbearers will be: Dustin Bailey, Jonathan Sorrell, Kody Griggs, Dakota Sorrell, Jerry Shrout and Tony Lewis.
