Mary Magdalene Montgomery Hawkins, 83, of 2505 Moores Ferry Road, Salt Lick, KY, passed away Saturday May 16, 2015 at St. Claire Regional Medical in Morehead, KY.
Born September 16, 1931 in Montgomery County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Ernie and Emma Alsop Montgomery, and was the widow of the late Hansford G. "Hank" Hawkins. She was a member of the Polksville Church Of God, Magoffin County Historical Society, was a Kentucky Colonel and had attended Morehead State University.
Survivors include 2 sons, Dennis Hawkins and wife Melodie of Mount Sterling and Phillip Hawkins and wife Barbara of Salt Lick, 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and her pet and companion Mickey.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Scotty Hawkins, 3 brothers, Charles, Haden and Stanley Montgomery, 3 sisters, Helen Goodpaster, Laverne Lutes and Juanita Goodpaster, 1 half-brother, Claude Montgomery, 3 half-sister, Lila Roark, Maudie Conley and Nevada Alsept and a special great nephew, Michael Scott Goodpaster.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday May 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Polksville Church Of God with Bro. Ralph White officiating. Burial will follow at Hedricks Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday May 18, 2015 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Polksville Church Of God.
