Virgil Morgan Wright, 83, of 1757 Moores Ferry Road, Salt Lick, KY, passed away Monday September 20, 2021 at his residence.
Born February 7, 1938 in Menifee County, KY, a son of the late Virgil Benton and Georgia Beatrice Warner Wright. He was a retired automobile body mechanic and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Morgan had a great love of music and was an accomplished guitar and bass guitar player having played for the local “Arms Of Affection” and with musician Tom T. Hall. He also taught and trained many local musicians.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Wright, 2 sisters, Helen Warren and Mary Warren and 2 brothers, James Wright and Donald Wright.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Jessie Miller and her husband Anthony of Owingsville, KY and Kellie Wright of Lexington, KY, grandchildren, Shelby Bennett and husband Josh, Elizabeth Morgan Wright Bowling, Jesselin Starr Miller and Hali Castle and husband Jared, great-grandchildren, Ava Jane Bennett and Cayde Lee Castle, several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Tim Woods of Salt Lick, KY.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday September 23, 2021 at 6:00 PM at Powell Funeral Home, Salt Lick, KY with Rev. Mark Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow beside his wife in Dickerson Cemetery, Salt Lick, KY. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Thomas Woods, Brad Wright, Trevor Wright, Jesselin Miller, Josh Bennett and Anthony Miller.
