Mr. Nelson Burns Purvis, 86, of 119 Kendall Lane, Flemingsburg, KY, passed away Tuesday evening June 25, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Mr. Purvis was born at Salt Lick, KY, December 12, 1932, a son of the late John and Clara Staton Purvis. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was a United States Navy Veteran serving his country during the Korean War era and was a retired area business owner, having started and owned Kentucky's oldest Honda motorcycle dealership, Honda Of Flemingsburg, for over 50 years, a former employee of General Telephone, a member of the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5, the Franklin Sousley VFW Post #1834, a member of the Flemingsburg Christian Church and was a Kentucky Colonel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Purvis and a sister, Madge Purvis Norris and a nephew, Roy Nelson Purvis.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Pelfrey Purvis, 2 sons, Barry (Brenda Lamkin) Purvis and Phillip (Debbie) Purvis, 4 grandchildren, Mackenzie Purvis, Matthew Purvis, Madison Purvis and Ethan Purvis, a niece, Marian Lee Sterling and 2 nephews, Jackie Purvis and Richard L. Purvis.
Visitation for Mr. Purvis will be Saturday June 29, 2019 from 10:00 AM until service time at 12:00 PM at the Flemingsburg Christian Church 201 East Water Street, Flemingsburg, KY, 41041
Funeral services will follow the visitation Saturday at 12:00 PM at the Church with Rev. Tracy Parker and Rev. Gail Skaggs officiating. Interment will follow in the Fleming County Cemetery, 330 East Water Street, Flemingsburg, KY 41041 with full military honors provided by W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and the Franklin Sousley VFW Post #1834.

Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Purvis, Stevie Adams, Jeff Doyle, Mark Doyle, Meredith Story and Charlie Applegate. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Foxworthy, Julian Horton, Ray Horton, Scott Perkins, Aaron “Taters” Flora and Sherrill Storey.
