Ova Richardson, Jr., 94, of 3525 Hwy. 746, Wellington, KY, passed away Monday morning June 22, 2026 at his residence.
He was born in Menifee County, Kentucky a son of the late Ova Richardson, Sr. and the late Lela Robinson Richardson. He was a former Menifee County Sheriff and a farmer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ova Lee Richardson, a grandson, Michael Lee Richardson and infant twin brothers, Earl and Merle Richardson.
Survivors include his wife, Elberteen Cox Richardson, 3 sons: Omer Clay Richardson, Buddy Richardson and his wife Kathy and James Woodford “Woody” Richardson, 4 grandchildren: Christy Richardson Lawson (Troy), Lela Richardson Peters (Randy), Tabitha Richardson Highley (Jason) and Nathan Lee Richardson (Kaitlin), great-grandchildren: Arya and Donovan Highley, Alice, Connor and Bennett Richardson, Zander, Link and Tara Spencer, Lillee and Ariel Peters, Dylan, Ethan and Owen Ferrell and Chase and Alexis Lawson. Also surviving is a daughter-in-law: Connie Hatton Richardson.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday June 24, 2026 at 4:00 PM at Pomroyton Union Church, 4858 Hwy. 1569, Wellington, KY 40387, with Bro. Terry Wells and Bro. Alan Ratliff officiating. Burial will follow in the Richardson Family Cemetery, Wellington, KY.
Visitation will be at the church Wednesday from 2:00 PM until service time at 4:00 PM.
Serving as pallbearers: Nathan Richardson, Dylan, Ethan and Owen Ferrell and Chase Lawson
Honorary pallbearers: Connor and Bennett Richardson, Donovan Highley, Zander and Link Spencer
