Phillip Earl Barber, 54, of Mount Sterling, KY formerly of Salt Lick, KY, passed away Saturday January 21, 2023 at Saint Joseph Hospital, Mount Sterling, KY.
Phillip was born August 13, 1968 at Morehead, KY the son of Lewis Reed Barber of Chattanooga, TN and Donna Karrick Barber of Bethel, KY
Phillip was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. He was an inspired photographer with a special talent for nature and landscape scenes. He was happiest behind a camera, spending time with family and cheering on his UK Wildcats. In his youth, he was a gifted baseball player who was known by his teammates to throw a mean pitch. He was a humble, compassionate and gentle man, with a loving heart and a keen sense of humor.
Phillip was also a loving father to his sons Phillip (who goes by PJ) and Gabriel and a loving father figure to Ryan, Jordan (Jade) and Cori and grandfather to Madison, Victoria and Emersyn whom he adored. He enjoyed music and was an armchair meteorologist, always tracking a good storm. His greatest joy was being a father. He shared his life with his much loved wife Tina, he was loved by her family as well.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife Tina, his children, PJ and wife Bre, Gabriel and bonus children, Ryan, Jordan and Cori, a sister, Penny Grimes and husband Greg, his brother, Jeremy, niece Lexy Williams and nephew Luke Grimes. Also surviving, a host of aunts, uncles and cousins who played an important role in his life.
Phillip was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Hugh and Bertha Karrick and his paternal grandparents, George Earl and Iola Barber
Phillip will be greatly missed, irreplaceable and always loved beyond words. We, as a family, take comfort in knowing that he has transitioned to his new life with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We look forward to seeing him again, in our Father’s House.
“He fought the good fight; He finished the race and He kept the faith. Now, there is in store for Him the crown of righteousness which the lord, the righteous judge, will award to Him, and not only Him, but also to all of those who have longed for His appearing”
“Now breaks a noble heart. Good-night sweet prince; and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest”
