Robert B. Sorrell, 79, of Flemingsburg, KY passed away Saturday morning August 13, 2022.
Born July 20, 1943 at Hillsboro, KY, he was a son of the late Emmitt (Dick) Sorrell and the late Ona Royce Sorrell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin sons, Michael Wayne and Timothy Wayne Sorrell and his brother, Gary Sorrell.
After graduating from Fleming County High School, Robert served his country in the U.S. Army as a military police officer. After his discharge from the military, he went of to work for the Marion, IN police department from which he retired after 21 years service. Following his retirement, he returned to school to become a respiratory therapist and worked at Fleming County Hospital, Bourbon Community Hospital and Sorrell Home Medical before retiring again. He loved staying active, walking, reading and spending time with his family.
Robert was a kind, loving, generous man with a big soft heart. He taught us by being a good example and through his actions, not just with his words. He spent his career life in service to others and he lived his life for his family. He will forever be loved and missed.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Imogene Tapley Sorrell, 1 son, Jeff Sorrell and his wife Nicole, 1 daughter, Deborah Sorrell-Purvis and her husband Phillip, 2 grandsons, Matthew Purvis and his wife Tori and Ethan Purvis and 1 brother Roy Sorrell and his wife Debbie.
Visitation and services will be Saturday August 20, 2022 at New Life Church Of Christ, 374 Helena Road, Flemingsburg, KY 41041. Family visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 11:30 AM followed by public visitation from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM with a service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery, 835 Sunset Road, Hillsboro, KY 41049.
